Coach Harold "Tank" Violette, who guided Winslow's football team to a state championship our senior year, was named to the Maine Sports Hall of Fame. Coach Violette was also a math and science teacher and coached hockey at Winslow.

Donna (Loubier) and Dean Ouilette became grandparents for the second time, a girl named Olive (and on the same day the Seahawks won the Super Bowl in a huge rout over Denver. The Ouilettes live in Washington.)

Susan LeClair's fifth grandson, Everett James, was born at 11:10 p.m. this date. He came seven weeks early and weighed in at only four pounds, but Susan says he's doing great!

Donna (Loubier) Ouilette's kids have an amazing knack for timing the births of their children. First, one of her grandkids is born on Super Bowl Sunday - when the home state team wins. Today, her third grandchild (second child of her daughter) and first grandson, Caden Dean Wilhelm, was born.

Update on Carl Bowker: He is out of the hospital, and after a stint in rehab, he is now living with his daughter and is on oxygen for life. However, he is doing much better and eating well.

Judy (Audet) and Bo Hendrick are the proud grandparents of a third child/second granddaughter, Amelia Mae Hendrick, born to Capt. Bob (WHS, '02) and Chelsea (McCaslin) Hendrick (WHS, '05) in Las Vegas, where Bob is stationed as an Air Force fighter pilot. Congratulations, all!

Reunion coordinator Lucie Tardif was inducted into and initiated by The Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi, the oldest multidisciplinary collegiate honor society in the country and founded at UMaine (and Lucie's third in college).

Dave and Cathie (Bridges) Roy are the proud grandparents of another grandson, Cohen Lee Buechler, who weighed 7 lbs., 2 ozs. Cohen is the second child of Cathie's son and daughter-in-law, Kalen and Tracey Buechler. Big brother Aiden is 3.
Cohen was born on his Great Uncle Gary Bridges's birthday and now has Gary's middle name.

Janice (Nixon) and Jim (WHS '76) have had a flurry of joyful family events recently and are in for some more. Their son, Cody, alumnus of WHS and recently graduated from USM, is engaged to Katie Irwin. They will marry in the fall of 2015.

Lt. Wesley Hussey, Maine State Police (WHS '73 and husband of Evangeline Labreck Hussey), has announced his retirement as of September 1. (We'll celebrate at our class's reunion just three days prior, Wes!) Lt. Hussey has served as commander of Field Troop E in Bangor as well as Special Units: Incident Management. He has been a State Trooper for 36 years!

Lance Pelletier, son of Peter and Sally Pelletier, graduated from the University of Washington School of Law. Lance holds a B.A. in English from DePaul University in Chicago and served over five years in the U.S. Army, leaving the military decorated, with distinction and the rank of Captain.

Celeste (Hubert) Cottrell became a grandmother for the 4th time with the birth of Anniston Victoria Aveau, daughter of Celeste's son and daughter-in-law, Sam and Nicole Aveau, their first child. Anniston weighed 9 lbs. 4 ozs. and was 21 1/2 ins. long. (Celeste also has seven step grandchildren!)

Joseph "Val" Labrie underwent open heart surgery, which went well, and Val is doing great, though he will need additional surgery later on.
August 29, 2014 - Our 40th Class Reunion
Fifty-eight (ironic, considering that's the age of most of us) classmates and five faculty, along with many guests, gathered at the Winslow VFW for our 40th class reunion, our 5th get-together since graduating in 1974. We had a great time talking, laughing, reminiscing, reconnecting and dancing and missed those who couldn't join us. (Photo by Casey Ledoux) We hope to gather again for our 45th in the summer of 2019. Plans will be announced a year in advance.

Shortly before our reunion Gregg Knight informed classmates he had Stage 4 lung cancer. However, since then tumors in his lungs, brain and liver have either shrunk considerably from chemo or been eradicated. Great news! He was cleared to travel to Maine, Sept. 11-29.
